The Epilepsy Centre provides support and counselling services to the public with epilepsy and their families, as well as a public awareness and education campaign throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Reader friendly, up–to–date information on all aspects of epilepsy is readily available and being updated on a continuous basis.
A wide range of books, pamphlets and information sheets, videos and other items are available for individuals with epilepsy, families, friends, carers, service providers, employers and the general community.
The Epilepsy Centre provides a responsive information and education service to community organisations, health and welfare groups, businesses, education providers and students, as well as any other group where a need is identified.
Education and support programmes are conducted in schools providing students with a more enlightened attitude towards epilepsy and informing teachers of the signs, treatment and management of the many different types of seizures.
We provide lectures for various professional and community organisations, first aid instruction and workshops. We conduct community and parent information sessions with guest speakers on all aspects of epilepsy care and provide support networks for people with different types of epilepsy.
The Association adopts a comprehensive caring approach to epilepsy management and offers a referral service to other health, disability and education organisations in government and non-government sectors for people with epilepsy.
Experienced and professional staff is available to assist with issues such as current policy on driving, workplace discrimination, lifestyle strategies, and support for parents and carers. The services of a qualified social worker are also available. This is a free community service with your right to privacy and confidentially, understood and respected.
A quarterly publication filled with up–to–date advancements in medical and social aspects, as well as current activities in the local area.
The Association liaises with affiliates of the National organisation, Epilepsy Australia Ltd and international epilepsy associations. If you are travelling overseas or moving interstate the Association can assist by providing you with names and addresses of support networks.
Specific support networks are established in the metropolitan and regional areas.
