Did You Know?

Epilepsy is – not contagious.
You can’t catch epilepsy, it’s not infectious. Sometimes epilepsy may develop as a result of a brain injury or illness. Some types of epilepsy can be inherited. In many cases the cause of epilepsy is unknown, however doctors are learning more every day about the brain and epilepsy.

**********

The brain can store more information than could be contained in 20 million books each with a thousand pages!

**********

It doesn’t matter how clever you are, what the colour of their skin is or how rich or poor they happen to be, epilepsy does not separate one from another. Epilepsy can affect anyone at anytime.

  Animals and Epilepsy

All animals have brains and so they can have seizures. It is not unusual for pet dogs and cats to be treated by a vet for epilepsy with medicines to control the disorder.

Throughout the world there are about 30 million people who have epilepsy.
Compare this with Australia which has an approximate population of 20 million!
Epilepsy is very common indeed.

Caesar, Julius (100 – 44 B.C)

Julius Caesar was one of the greatest generals who ever lived – he was extremely clever and courageous.

Caesar arrived on the shores of Britain in the year 54 BC. His invasion made him a great hero in the city of Rome. He remained the world’s most powerful man until March, 44 BC when he was stabbed to death by a group of men led by Brutus and Cassius.

Through–out his life he kept in very good health. The fact that he had epilepsy didn’t affect his success in any way.
